Introduction to Explosives Safety Management for Safety Professionals (CERT)

Ungraded knowledge checks are distributed throughout the content to provide students with immediate feedback about their level of understanding in each topic. Graded multiple choice questions are provided at the end of each course. 80% of these must be answered correctly to complete the course. After three unsuccessful attempts to do so, the course will be marked as unsuccessful.

Description: This course satisfies mandatory certification training and refresher training requirements for Functional Community 12 professionals requiring completion of Level 1 Certification as prescribed by AR 385-10, as well as personnel requiring training in the application of governing regulations and procedures for the safe conduct of AE operations as prescribed by DoD 5160.68, AR 690-950, and DA PAM 385-64. Course content includes a comprehensive review of U.S. Army governing regulations and procedures critical to conducting safe A&E operations at retail and depot levels, as well as training in the application of standard risk management practices, explosives safety program management, explosives hazards, explosives storage, explosives safety site planning and licensing, and ammunition malfunction and incident procedures.

Audience: U.S. Army Functional Community 12 SOH professionals requiring completion of Level 1 Certification, personnel requiring training in the application of governing regulations and procedures for the safe conduct of AE operations including safety professionals with explosives safety responsibilities, and DA Fellows enrolled in Quality Assurance Specialist, Ammunition Surveillance (QASAS) Functional Community 20 or Ammunition Management Functional Community 33, as prescribed by DoD 5160.68, AR 385-10, AR 690-950, and DA PAM 385-64.

Length: Approximately 24 hours (self-paced learning).

Special Information: This course is a web-based (online) course. Students must have web access and a CAC card. Students must register through ATRRS for course credit. A high-speed Internet connection is recommended to complete the course.

Prerequisites: Completion of Course Nos. 9E-F67/920-F35 (DL), INTRODUCTION TO AMMUNITION (CERT), 4E-F44/645-F28 (DL), U.S. ARMY EXPL SAFETY FAMILIARIZATION (CERT), and 4E-F62/645-F46 (DL), AMMUNITION PUBLICATIONS (CERT), offered by the Defense Ammunition Center (DAC) via distance learning (DL) is required for Functional Community 20/33 fellows.
