Ungraded knowledge checks are distributed throughout the content to provide students with immediate feedback about their level of understanding in each topic. Graded multiple choice questions are provided at the end of each course. 75% of these must be answered correctly to complete the course. After three unsuccessful attempts to do so, the course will be marked as unsuccessful.

Description: This course satisfies mandatory initial and refresher certification training requirements for personnel involved in the design, installation, test, maintenance, and inspection of electrical equipment, static dissipation systems, lightning protection systems, and bonding for Army explosives facilities as prescribed by DoDI 5160.68, AR 385-10, and DA PAM 385-64. This course provides a comprehensive review of Army guidance and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards governing electrical explosives safety, as well as technical training in the application of explosives safety concepts to include zones of protection, grounding, bonding, static electricity, electrical equipment in hazardous (classified) locations, Hazards of Electromagnetic Radiation to Ordnance (HERO), and lightning protection system (LPS) inspection, testing standards, design criteria, and recordkeeping.

Audience: Personnel involved in the design, installation, test, maintenance, and inspection of electrical equipment, static dissipation systems, lightning protection systems, and bonding for Army explosives facilities as prescribed by DoDI 5160.68, AR 385-10, and DA PAM 385-64.

Length: Approximately 12 hours (self-paced learning).

Special Information: This course is a web-based (online) course hosted on the Army Training Information System (ATIS). Students must have web access and a CAC card. Students must register through ATRRS for course credit. A high-speed Internet connection is recommended to complete the course.
